File Menu

  • Exit: exits the game
  • Change Nickname:

    This menu allows you to change your nickname. just type in a new name, hit OK, and relog.

View Menu

  • Gateways List: brings up a list of the available gateways. This is mostly from older versions of the game so can be ignored it’s also used by staff for world debugging
  • Character: not programmed yet.
  • Buildings: not programmed yet.

Options Menu


Options Menu. This is the menu you’ll probably be doing most menu working in.
It has the following selections:

  • General Options:

    * Overall Graphics Level - set the overall graphics
  • Chat Groups - doesn’t seem to work yet
  • Block Obscenity - replaces curse words.
  • Chat Window Background - makes it easier to see the chat
  • Shift+Control moves up Menus - check this to allow you to hit shift+control to scroll up menus
  • Start Small - start the client in small mode
  • Semi-Trans Vehicle Interiors - make the vehicle interiors see threw if the vehicle your in has one
  • Show Pilot Guide In Space - enables/disables the simply space guide in space
  • Clientside Max Wildlife Limit - setting to set how many wildlife you see on a world.
  • Should Buildings go Semi-Transparent… - makes the buildings see threw when your behind them.
  • Invert Mouse - flips the mouse movement when mouselock is turned on
  • Mouse Sensetivity - how senstive the mouse is when in first person mode
  • use W,A,S,D controls - set the movement keys to W,A,S, and D. hit T to chat.
  • Graphic Options:

    * Building Shadows / Player Shadows - sets how you see shadows
  • Resolution - shadow resolution
  • Buffer Size - shadow buffer
  • Water Reflections / Water Effects Off - turns on/off water effects
  • Texture Filtering / No Texture Filtering - turns on/off texture filtering
  • Semi-Transparent Water - makes the water see-threw
  • Show Players in Crowmode - sets if you see a players vehicle on the ground when in crow mode
  • Anisotropic Filtering - turns it on or off
  • Allow Z Buffer Reads - turns it on or off (no clue really)
  • Disable Point Render - enables/disables point rendure (no clue really)
  • Multitexture when available - not programmed yet
  • Add Nebulas in space - adds a nebulas in space
  • Fullscreen anti-aliasiasing - turns it on or off
  • Opaque Window Backgrounds - makes the window backgrounds see threw
  • Load Animation frames one at a time - slows down animations…i guess
  • Model Detail Level - not programmed yet
  • Draw Dist - set your viewing distance. you can also type .drawdist 50–900
  • Mipmap Bias - no clue
  • Filtering Modes - no clue
  • Cache Textures to DDS - turn this on to have the client generate .dds copies of the textures on the world for faster viewing and loading.
  • Video Card Options:

    This menu allows you to setup the main video settings of the game. Basic is perfectly fine for most computers, but for some older computers or ones with old/small video cards, advanced might be needed with alot of the stuff unchecked.
  • Audio Options:

    * Sound On - turns on/off sounds
  • Engine Noise - turns on/off engine sounds
  • Music/Radio Volume - volume for music and the radio
  • Sound Effects + slider - turns on/off sound effects plus sets there volume
  • Message Alerts + slider - turns on/off Message Alert sounds plus sets there volume
  • Fullscreen: Sets whether or not to run the game in fullscreen.
  • Keyboard Setup: Not programmed yet.
  • Invert Mouselock: Inverts the mouselock.
  • Joystick Setup:

    This menu allows you to setup your joystick or other game controller for use with the game.

Display Menu

  • Always on top: sets the client to always be ontop of stuff
  • Very Small: does nothing yet
  • Show Gametime: does nothing yet, can’t be unchecked.
  • Set Font:

Lets you choose the font that you see in small mode. The font goes back to default after the client closes and reopens.

Help Menu

  • Check for version update: checks for an update via the auto updater
  • Website: opens your internet browser to http://www.theuniversal.net
